The philosophy of Oakley Union Elementary School District is that students benefit most from being in the classroom.  However, if you know that your student will be missing school for a period of five (5) consecutive days or more due to vacation or unexpected circumstances, please contact the school and request an Independent Study Packet.

Please note, independent study may not exceed two weeks (10 school days) in duration.  The school office should be notified at least two weeks prior to a student’s absence.  The school can arrange homework for the amount of time the student will be absent.  Students may still have some additional make-up work to complete upon their return, but the amount will be manageable.  It is very important for students to complete the independent study work that is provided for them.  In order to receive credit, all the work must be turned in at the predetermined time set by the classroom teachers.
