Second graders are tested each spring to determine eligibility. There are several test scores taken into consideration when determining which students qualify for GATE. Each year only 2% of the students qualify. There is a different curricular focus each year. Regular classroom teachers are differentiating instruction for GATE students.
Each school site has organized a Student Study Team composed of regular classroom teachers and support staff of other programs for the purpose of discussing student needs and developing and suggesting program modifications appropriate to individual students prior to referral to Special Education.
